January 31, 2006 - IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger told a crowd of more than 250 affiliate leaders attending at the Ernest “Buddy” Mass Human Relations Conference, “For us, the challenge is not to accept where the fire service is and where this union is in terms of diversity because doing so would be a failure of leadership of the highest order. We must also admit that a lack of diversity in the fire service is not new.
